Dental Implants
Implants
What are dental implants?
They are one of the options when replacing missing teeth. For some people dental implants offer a smile that looks and feels more natural and more comfortable than conventional substitutes. Smilecare have been providing implant dentistry for many years.
A dental implant is a replacement for a natural root. Implants are usually made of titanium, a metal that is well-tolerated by the body. Surgically placed below the gums, the implant becomes firmly united with the jawbone. Crowns, bridges or dentures can be attached to the implant by screws or clips.

Why have implants?
Implants are an alternative to conventional bridges and partial dentures.
If full dentures move around a lot, implants will anchor the denture in place.
When teeth are lost, the jawbone may start to shrink. Implants slow this process.
We would rather use implant to support a bridge than cut into healthy teeth.
Not everyone is a viable candidate for dental implants. A thorough evaluation in our surgery will help determine whether you are a good candidate for dental implants and will allow you to understand all of your treatment options and choose a dental solution for improving your smile.
In Smile Care Cosmetic Centre we only use approved and state-of-the-art implant materials.
Implant Supported Overdentures
Implant supported overdentures go on top of dental implants. A retainer bar or retention balls are placed on the implants and special attachments are inserted into the denture to grab onto these retention devices.
We also offer mini implant dentures. Mini implants are very thin long titanium implants that screw into the jaw bone. They can be placed and old dentures can often be retrofitted to the implant heads.
The benefits of implant supported overdentures or denture implants
- Saving your natural roots or having dental implants placed will preserve bone and will dramatically reduce bone resorption and deterioration that results in loss of jawbone height.
- Implant overdentures will control facial contour changes that lead to premature wrinkles and aging.
- Implant overdentures will allow you to chew your food better and speak more clearly. Overdentures contribute to improved chewing efficiency and much better speech sounds.
- Messy denture creams and adhesives are no longer needed with denture implants.
